Reports: Diehl pleads guilty to DWI charge, avoids jail

David Diehl pleaded guilty this morning in Queens Criminal Court to charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated and impaired driving that stem from an incident that took place in Queens last summer, according to multiple reports.
The Giants lineman was drunk and bounced his black BMW off several parked cars on an Astoria Street following a Euro Cup soccer match between Croatia and Ireland in June. Prosecutors said his blood-alcohol level at the time was .182. He was arrested at the time and could have faced up to a year in jail.
With the plea, the charges will be conditionally discharged if Diehl completes two drunk driving programs, pays $1,200 in restitution fees to the owners of the cars he hit, and stays out of trouble for the next 90 days. He will have to wear a SCRAM (Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor) bracelet during that time and is not allowed to drive or apply for a driver's license for the next six months.
Diehl’s lawyer, Gary Certain, reportedly told the court that Diehl is currently in the NFL's DWI treatment program.
