So what was the problem with Ahmad Bradshaw in the first half? Was it the blocking? His running without having Brandon Jacobs tenderize a defense first?

Some pointed to the spongy turf and the abnormally high amount of black rubber pellets that the players call ash. If you saw the game on TV, you now doubt saw the players covered in the stuff as they came off the field. That probably made for an unstable surface under the feet of Bradshaw, whose quick moves require a firm grip on the ground. It's kind of like when the General Lee would skid all over the place on those dirt roads of Hazzard County.

There were other concerns about the ash, though. As one offensive lineman told Arthur Staple:

"I bet I'll find some when I take a dump later."
