Eli going to Peyton's place
The last time Eli Manning faced his big brother, he was still trying to find his sea legs in the NFL. "It was my first full season being a starter, and the first game of that season," he said of the 2006 meeting. "There were a lot of things going on."
Now Eli has just as many Super Bowl MVP awards as Peyton, has been to a Pro Bowl with Peyton, and, most importantly this week, has a win this season. But the Colts will have home-field advantage, something Eli Manning has witnessed firsthand as a supportive sibling but never as a visiting player.
"I've been there for a few games," he said. "I'm looking forward to that. They are always a tough team and it's going to be a challenge for us, so we have to go out there and play great football."
Pascoe promoted
When Bear Pascoe was signed to the practice squad, Tom Coughlin told him to stay ready. This is exactly why.
Pascoe was added to the 53-man roster Tuesday to help replace TE Kevin Boss, sidelined by a concussion suffered early in Sunday's win over the Panthers. The move means that Travis Beckum, the only other active tight end on the roster, will not be called upon to play the traditional blocking "Y" against a Colts team with talent at defensive end.
"Getting thrown in there at the 'Y' was different," Beckum said of filling in for Boss on Sunday. "It was stuff that I had done before but had not repped during the week . . . I'm glad I was in there to be able to do that and learn from my mistakes, and be able to be more versatile during the season as far as playing the 'Y'."
Road Kehl
When it was time to cut someone to make room for Pascoe, the guy who missed the block on a blocked punt was the one who went. That was Bryan Kehl, a fourth-round pick in 2008.
