These numbers show how bad Giants' loss to Eagles really was

Given the build-up, the stakes, the execution, the result and the injury, it's hard to remember a more devastating game in recent Giants history. So just how bad was Sunday night's 27-0 loss to the Eagles?
Well, considering the week began with a zero (as in the photograph of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Prince Amukamara flashing the number of Super Bowls won by the Eagles) and ended with a zero on the scoreboard for the Giants, pretty bad.
"Especially with what went down all week, for them to respond how they did and for us to respond how we did just doesn't sit well," Amukamara said.
It was the Giants' first shutout loss to the Eagles since a 24-0 defeat in Veterans Stadium on Dec. 1, 1996. The Giants have been blanked four times in their last 26 games. That's once every six and a half weeks. In other words, they're due for another one in Tennessee on Dec. 7.
The shutouts include a 34-0 loss in Atlanta in 2012, a 38-0 loss at Carolina last year and a 23-0 loss against the Seahawks last year at MetLife Stadium. Before that string of shutouts began, you have to go back to that 1996 blanking by the Eagles for the last regular-season doughnut, a span of 256 games. So let's recap: One shutout in 16 years, followed by four shutouts in less than two.
If that makes you feel lousy, then feel free to count the shutout loss to the Panthers in the 2005 NFC Wild Card Game.
The eight sacks allowed were the most by the Giants since Dec. 14, 2008, when Eli Manning was sacked eight times in a loss at Dallas.
Steve Weatherford punted 10 times, the most punts in a Giants regular-season game since Brad Maynard punted 12 times against the Bucs on Sept. 12, 1999. The Giants won that game, 17-13, by the way. Weatherford punted 12 times for the Giants in the 2011 NFC Championship Game in San Francisco -- also a win.
The Eagles rushed for 203 yards, the most by a Giants opponent since the Ravens on Dec. 23, 2012.
LeSean McCoy rushed for 149 yards, the first 100-yard rusher against the Giants since Ryan Matthews in San Diego last year and the highest total by a Giants opponent since Carolina's Jonathan Stewart ran for 206 yards in the final game in Giants Stadium on Dec. 27, 2009.
