Justin Tuck was a big part of the way the Giants finished their win Sunday, coming up with a fourth-quarter sack as the defense sealed the win. But there was a point when Tuck wasn't sure he would be around for those crucial plays.

"I didn't necessarily think I would make it through the game, honestly," the defensive captain said of playing for the first time since Week 3 on Sept. 25 and in only his third game in the first seven. "There are some things that I wish felt better than they do, but I made it through the football game and we're just going to go forward this week."

Tuck said "the energy from the crowd in the fourth quarter" helped get him through the game. "You kind of forget about some stuff," he said. "And then when your adrenaline comes down and I'm sitting there talking to you guys on the podium [at the postgame news conference], ehh, you kind of regret some of the decisions you made during that game."

Tuck said he was sore from the game. As for his actual injuries (neck and groin), he said they "feel like they're injuries."

Tryon ignored broken arm

Tom Coughlin lauded cornerback Justin Tryon, not only for making a terrific tackle against Reggie Bush on a fourth-quarter punt return but for doing so with a broken arm. "Justin arrived on the spot and wrapped him up and held on for dear life until he got some help," Coughlin said. "Instead of it being decent field position with an exceptional athlete returning, it ended up being a net 59-yard punt and a guy with a broken arm that eventually became quite a serious broken arm made the play that sometimes goes unnoticed."

Tryon said he injured his right arm early in the first half. "Then on that last tackle, I felt another pain in it," he said. He had surgery Monday and was put on injured reserve.

Tryon also had stepped into a role in the secondary, allowing the Giants to move safety Deon Grant closer to the line of scrimmage, where he was most productive last year. He is the seventh Giants cornerback to suffer a serious injury this season.

"So here we go again," Coughlin said.

Giant steps

Coughlin said WR Hakeem Nicks (hamstring) likely will be day-to-day this week and said C David Baas was sore but that his injured knee is "structurally sound" . . . Coughlin did not elaborate on the foot injury that limited RB Ahmad Bradshaw on Sunday. "He's had this before and he's got it again," Coughlin said. Bradshaw plays with screws in both feet from stress fractures suffered in 2009.
