Vic Six is at it again, Brandon thinks he's on the bubble, and Tracy can't get his socks off

A few other odds and ends from the game:

Victor Cruz caught another touchdown, this time on a fade into the corner of the end zone. “Rhett (Bomar) just threw a good ball,” he said. “We practice that play routinely when we get in the red zone. It’s a pretty routine play between me and Rhett.” Touchdowns from Cruz are certainly becoming routine. It was his fourth of the preseason and he leads the NFL in that category as well as in receiving yards (251) this preseason.

Interesting quote from Brandon Jacobs, who we noted earlier in the week was using air quotes when talking about the things he is called upon to do for the Giants. It seemed there was some dissatisfaction in that gesture, what with Ahmad Bradshaw emerging as the primary backfield option. Last night they gave the ball to Bradshaw on three straight plays starting with a second-and-1 while Jacobs was on the sideline. “Right now,” Jacobs said after the game, “I’m just trying to make the team.” A throwaway quote for a chuckle or a dig at how he’s being used … you be the judge.

Bradshaw might not have been able to pick up that one yard when the Giants turned it over on downs, but he did a good job of creating something out of nothing, which he’s been doing all preseason. This time he side-stepped Jarret Johnson at the line of scrimmage, eluded Kelly Gregg and Terrell Suggs, and then made Ray Lewis dive and miss to turn a play in which he seemed stuck in the backfield into a 12-yard gain. A few plays before that run he also stuck a nice straight-arm in the face of Dawan Landry to turn a short gain into a 5-yarder.

The saddest sight I saw last night was Adrian Tracy with his right arm in a sling trying to take off his socks with just his left hand. He dislocated his elbow late in the game and the whole arm looked pretty crooked when he walked past me between the X-ray room and the locker room. Tough break because the kid was actually starting to show a little something here at the end of the summer.

Will Beatty has been playing left tackle all summer so we’ll give him a little slack for looking lost at times filling in for Kareem McKenzie at right tackle. Still, he’s making it easy on the established guys to keep their jobs (assuming they can stay healthy). Shawn Andrews looked solid in his first football game since September 2008.
