Goodell criticizes quality of Pro Bowl
INDIANAPOLIS -- A week after the Pro Bowl, in which fans booed players because of apparent lack of effort in the AFC's 59-41 win, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Sunday he will discuss the possibility of eliminating the game.
Goodell said on ESPN Radio that he will speak with union director DeMaurice Smith about whether to continue the game.
"We're either going to have to improve the quality of what we're doing in the Pro Bowl or consider other changes, or even eliminating the game, if that's the kind of quality we're going to provide," Goodell said. "I really didn't think that was the kind of football we want to be demonstrating for our fans. And you heard it from the fans. They were actively booing in the stands. They didn't like what they were seeing."
NFLPA spokesman George Atallah tweeted that the players have no interest in eliminating the Pro Bowl.
