HGH testing to begin

After weeks of delays, the NFL and the NFL Players Association have finally agreed to a plan for testing for human growth hormone after a meeting today with leaders of a House committee. 

NFL vice president Greg Aiello announced the deal on his Twitter account, saying that testing would begin "ASAP ... should start as early as next week." 

The two sides had agreed to HGH testing as part of their new 10-year collective bargaining agreement, which was announced in late July. But the union had resisted implentation of the testing program, citing issues with the reliability of the current testing procedures. 

Nearly two dozen scientists and lab directors had sent a letter to the union and the league stating that the current testing is safe and scientifically reliable.
