Injuries mount for Bills
Injuries are piling up for the Buffalo Bills, who are searching for a kicker and risk losing starting defensive tackle Kyle Williams for the rest of the season.
Coach Chan Gailey described the injury to kicker Rian Lindell's right shoulder as "not good." Without being definitive, Gailey said Lindell either broke something or nearly had his shoulder pop out a day earlier in a 27-11 loss to the Jets.
Either way, it leaves the Bills (5-3) trying out replacements this week as they prepare to travel to play Dallas (4-4) on Sunday.
Gailey ruled out Lindell from playing Sunday, but wouldn't say whether the injury was season-ending.
As for Williams, Gailey said the player will visit a specialist this week to examine a nagging left foot injury that's forced him to miss the past three games. Gailey didn't rule out Williams' season being over.
Gailey also ruled out starting left tackle Demetrius Bell (right shoulder) and starting linebacker Chris Kelsay (left calf) from playing Sunday.
Lions sign Davis
The Detroit Lions have signed guard Leonard Davis and are bringing back running back Kevin Smith.
The 33-year-old Davis has started all 155 games he's played in during his career, but was cut by Dallas before this season.
Detroit drafted Smith in 2008 and he ran for nearly 1,000 yards and caught 39 passes as a rookie. The Lions let him go this past offseason.
McCoy out for season
Tampa Bay Buccaneers defensive tackle Gerald McCoy will miss the rest of the season because of a torn right biceps. McCoy was injured Sunday during the opening quarter of a 27-16 defeat to New Orleans.
Vikings reinstate Cook
The Vikings have reinstated cornerback Chris Cook, ending his without-pay suspension after two weeks. But Cook won't be playing, practicing or even at the team's facility while he deals with a felony charge of domestic assault.
