Internet hoax claims Tony Romo broke both legs in car accident

There's nothing like a good Internet hoax to get the day started.
A false report that's gained some traction on Twitter is claiming that Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has broken both of this legs.
The faux story comes from a seemingly legitimate news site called Global Associated News. But one quick look at the URL the site displays (http://tony.romo.mediafetcher.com/news/top_stories/football_car_crash.php?location=Dallasimmediately) kills the rumor, not to mention the multiple factual errors.
If the URL didn't give it away, the fact that the bottom of the page says the site is fake surely does.
In any case, here's what the pranksters "reported" to fool Cowboys fans:
"A spokesperson for the Dallas highway safety authority (HSA) has confirmed that Tony Romo has broken both of his legs in a traffic altercation. He has been transported via ambulance to a local Dallas hospital for treatment, and the full extent of his injuries are not known at this time, however, both of his legs were visibly broken and not life threatening according to sources.
"The accident involved a 2012 BMW driven by Tony Romo and a 76-yearold female driver in a 2010 Audi. The driver of the Audi was issued a citation for failing to stop at a red light before striking the vehicle driven by Tony Romo at a high rate of speed."
Nice try, trolls.
