RYAN TANNEHILL
Quarterback, Texas A&M
Tannehill is a hot name and quickly moving up in many mock drafts. He had some mistake-filled games during his career at Texas A&M (He threw 15 interceptions last season). But there are experts and NFL executives who believe Tannehill is as good or will be better than Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III at the pro level. Tannehill (6-4, 221) is athletic and showed off his running skills plenty at Texas A&M. Tannehill was a wide receiver during his first two seasons at Texas A&M, catching a total of 101 passes. He eventually took over at quarterback, replacing starter Jerrod Johnson and leading the Aggies to some big wins. He has the leadership skills to take charge of a pro offense. Tannehill could slip if certain teams pass on him early in the first round. But don’t be surprised to hear Tannehill’s name called soon after Luck and Griffin.

Just a few days ago, it appeared that the Dolphins were prepared to go with David Garrard as their starting quarterback. But with Garrard now out with a knee injury and rookie Ryan Tannehill shaking off the effects of a training camp holdout and showing rapid improvement, it looks like Tannehill will be the guy.

The first-round pick out of Texas A & M is set to start tonight's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. Matt Moore, the incumbent starter from last season, will be the backup. And it looks like it will stay that way for the foreseeable future, because Tannehill is the future in Miami.

If he does go into the season as the starter, he'll be the fourth rookie starter in 2012, joining Andrew Luck of the Colts, Robert Griffin III of the Redskins and Brandon Weeden of the Browns.

Last year, Cam Newton of the Panthers and Andy Dalton of the Bengals were rookie starters.
