It's Tannehill Time in Miami
Just a few days ago, it appeared that the Dolphins were prepared to go with David Garrard as their starting quarterback. But with Garrard now out with a knee injury and rookie Ryan Tannehill shaking off the effects of a training camp holdout and showing rapid improvement, it looks like Tannehill will be the guy.
The first-round pick out of Texas A & M is set to start tonight's preseason game against the Carolina Panthers. Matt Moore, the incumbent starter from last season, will be the backup. And it looks like it will stay that way for the foreseeable future, because Tannehill is the future in Miami.
If he does go into the season as the starter, he'll be the fourth rookie starter in 2012, joining Andrew Luck of the Colts, Robert Griffin III of the Redskins and Brandon Weeden of the Browns.
Last year, Cam Newton of the Panthers and Andy Dalton of the Bengals were rookie starters.
