Jets dump Lito, get Cromartie
Out goes one cornerback, and in comes another.
The Jets dumped Lito Sheppard, as expected, earlier today and within hours had secured the services of Chargers cornerback Antonio Cromartie (pictured) for a third-round pick in the 2011 draft.
Cromartie has been on the block for several weeks after falling out of favor with the Chargers' coaching staff.
He's worth a shot; in 2007, Cromartie had a whopping 10 interceptions. But his play has slipped the last two years, as he had a combined five interceptions.
