An average of nearly 20 percent of homes in the New York area watched Sunday as the Jets defeated the Giants, 23-20, in overtime in their quadrennial regular-season meeting at MetLife Stadium.

For obvious reasons, the 19.9 rating on CBS was unusually high for the New York market, which usually lags behind most other areas when it comes to weekly local NFL ratings.

New York ranked ninth among the 56 major markets measured for the early afternoon window on CBS, which also is far higher than normal.
