Based on the latest projected timeline for the end of the NFL lockout, the Jets would be one the last two teams to open camp. The Jets and the Houston Texans would report to training camp on Saturday, July 30, and begin practice Sunday, July 31.
The reason for it is simple: the Jets open their preseason schedule on Monday, Aug. 15 in Houston.
The staggered opening of training camps -- 10 on Wednesday, 10 on Thursday, 10 on Friday, 2 on Saturday -- is to ensure that all teams have an equal amount of days (14) before their first preseason games.
