Plaxico Burress didn't feel right when he woke up this morning, experiencing some pain in his left elbow.

So the Jets held the wide receiver out of practice today, having him work with the trainers on the side while they began preparing for Sunday's showdown with the Patriots at Gillette Stadium.

"I just had a little soreness, a little stiffness, a little swelling," Burress said. "So they just held me out for today and I’ll be ready to go tomorrow and Friday. So it’s nothing serious, just a little swelling a little soreness, but it’s nothing to keep me out of the game."

Burress doesn't even know how the injury came about, and isn't aware if it's something that can be traced back to Sunday's loss versus the Ravens.

"I’m not really sure," he said. "It’s just one of those things where I was tossing and turning last night and had a little stiffness, had a little inflammation. So they just shut me down for the day, but I expect to be out there tomorrow.”

Burress said he was treated with ultrasound among other things, but repeated he should be fine and ready to go.

"It’s a little freakish deal that happened overnight," he said. "But it’s nothing that will keep me out of practice tomorrow or anything like that."

As for All-Pro center Nick Mangold, he returned to practice today and looked relatively good. He said his lateral movement still isn't where it normally is, but he thinks his chances of playing Sunday are much better than last week's.

"I'd say pretty good," said Mangold, who's missed the past two games. "We'll see. It's day by day, but it's looking good."
