Dee Milliner to have wrist surgery, will miss 6-8 weeks; Antonio Allen waived after Achilles' tendon injury

The hits just keep on coming for the Jets secondary -- and the not the good kind.
Hours after the team announced Friday that safety Antonio Allen had been waived/injured with a torn Achilles' tendon, the organization tweeted that cornerback Dee Milliner is scheduled to undergo wrist surgery today after suffering the injury during Thursday's practice.
His recovery timetable is six to eight weeks, according to the team.
Now, the Jets' revamped -- and quite expensive -- secondary is down two young guys.
Milliner, the night overall pick in the 2013 draft, has an extensive injury history. And Friday's procedure marks the seventh surgery for the former Alabama star.
Last year, he suffered a high-ankle sprain in training camp only to tear his right Achilles' tendon on a special-teams play minutes into the Jets' 31-17 loss to the Broncos.
Prior to being drafted by the Jets, he had undergone five different procedures, including shoulder surgery that forced him to miss much of the 2013 season.
Meanwhile, Allen suffered the non-contact injury late in Thursday's practice and fell to the ground. He was helped off by trainers and taken to the locker room. Head coach Todd Bowles didn't know the severity of the injury immediately after practice, but the fear was that Allen had indeed torn his Achilles.
In a corresponding move, the Jets signed cornerback Keon Lyn.
If Allen clears waivers, the 26-year-old defensive back could end up on the Jets' injured reserve list.
Allen, a former seventh-round pick in 2012, was in the final year of his rookie contract. During his Jets tenure, he recorded 118 tackles, 13 passes defenses and 2.5 sacks. A contributor on special teams, Allen was also forced to convert to cornerback by Rex Ryan due to the team's lack of depth at the position.
Allen played both safety and cornerback last season and made eight starts at his original position. His career highlights include two blocked punts and an interception for a touchdown against the Patriots.
Lyn, a Syracuse product, went undrafted in 2014 and signed with the Indianapolis Colts. He most recently was with the Arena League's Jacksonville Sharks.
