Dustin Keller believes he'll play against Bills
FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- Dustin Keller has yet to test his hamstring in team drills, but he feels good about his chances of playing in Sunday's opener.
"I don't see any reason why I wouldn't go,'' the Jets tight end said of facing Buffalo.
Keller ran full-speed only on the sideline yesterday, which means his level of participation in Friday's practice will be the barometer for his weekend status.
Keller said he felt no soreness in his hamstring after practice. "As long as we don't have any setbacks,'' he said, "I'm pretty sure I'm ready to go.''
Rex spins it differentlyA day after Santonio Holmes said Mark Sanchez was "rattled'' when the Jets obtained Tim Tebow, Rex Ryan offered a much different take of the quarterback's emotional state in the wake of the trade. Ryan said Sanchez focused his energy on improving.
"He wants to be great," Ryan said. "And I think he's making strides to be that quarterback that we want here.''
Jet streamsCoordinator Mike Pettine said the notion that Ryan will be more involved in defensive play-calling "is a little overblown" and "is basically what it has been." . . . Rookie WR Stephen Hill (calf) was an addition to the injury report, though he practiced fully. RG Brandon Moore (hip), LB Bryan Thomas (ankle), NT Sione Po'uha (back) and DL Mike DeVito (calf) were limited. RB Joe McKnight (hamstring) and LB Nick Bellore (shoulder) practiced fully. S LaRon Landry sat out practice as part of his weekly "pitch count." . . . Bills WR Stevie Johnson did not practice and former Jet Brad Smith (groin) was limited . . . According to Team Marketing Report's Fan Cost Index, the Jets have the highest average non-premium ticket price in the NFL: $117.94 -- slightly more than the Patriots ($117.84) and Giants ($111.69).
