For dinner? The "Mark Sanchez"
That's right - Gallagher's Steak House, a food joint in Manhattan, has a special Jets-themed lunch menu this week, leading up to Gang Green's Sunday meeting with Peyton and the Colts.
Among the available options? Well, for starters, you could order the "Jay Feely" - onion soup with toasted baguette and melted muenster cheese; for the entree, a "Broadway Joe - a 10 oz. prime chuck burger topped with melted roquefort cheese, honey balsamic and glazed onions; and for dessert, the "Nick Mangold - a New York style cheesecake.
A few of the options were, shall we say, misguided, though. Forgive me, but giving both Shonn Greene and Darrelle Revis, the Jets' two postseason MVPs, salads? A low blow!
Greene's menu item is a spinach salad with sliced pears, goat cheese, and raspberry vinaigrette - that after bowling over half of the Chargers defense en route to a 50-yard touchdown scamper. And Revis? His dish is called the "Darrelle Revis Endive and Beet-Up the Offense," a salad consisting of shredded beets and slivered almonds.
Thus, I felt it necessary to rename a few of the courses, and come up with the ultimate Jets' five-course meal, including soup, salad, appetizer, entree and dessert. So, straight from The Boone Docks Restaurant:
Soup: The "Mark Sanchez" - a thimble of Manhattan Clam Chowder. Similar to Sanchez, you only get a small dosage.
Salad: The "Rex Ryan" - a salad that instead of lettuce, has french fries, and instead of dressing, has chili and cheese.
Appetizer: The "Darrelle Revis" - a pot luck special appetizer. Just a bunch of scraps on a plate, from other people's plates, because that's all the quarterback is left with when his receivers go to Revis Island. This gets ordered as frequently as QBs throw in his direction. (Courtesy of Mark La Monica).
Entree: The "Bart Scott" - a chicken fajita, served with peppers, onions, chicken, rice ... the works. Just like Scott, it's loud on delivery.
Dessert: The "Shonn Greene" - Pringles. Once you pop, the fun don't stop. And once you let Greene get going, there's no stopping him.
So, Jets nation, if you were putting together a dish based on a New York Jet, what would you make?
