FLORHAM PARK, N.J. -- After putting up their best rushing attack of the season, the Jets could be down two running backs against New England.

According to multiple reports, Bilal Powell is expected to miss Sunday's game in Foxboro after an MRI revealed he suffered a separated right shoulder in Sunday's win over the Colts. The second-year back, his right arm in a sling, confirmed the injury in the locker room.

Joe McKnight's status remains up in the air after he hurt his left ankle on his 61-yard third-quarter run Sunday. The injury could sideline McKnight for a few weeks.

Jonathan Grimes, who was signed from the Texans' practice squad three weeks ago, said he spoke to Powell about the injury.

"He said it's sore, but that's all," Grimes said. "I hope he gets back as soon as he can. You don't wish anything bad on your teammates."

But the undrafted rookie running back said he's ready to step up in Powell's absence. "It's the same every week," he said. "Always prepare like you're going to start the game. Even if you're fourth string, always be prepared. As usual, I'm going to stay in my [play]book and keep hustling in practice."

The Jets finally broke out of their running slump in Week 6, outrushing the Colts 252-41. Shonn Greene had a career day, gaining 161 yards on the ground.

"I knew we would get it going," said Powell (four carries for 14 yards). "Hopefully, we can continue to keep it going."

Tight end Dustin Keller, who played in his first game since Week 1, said his hamstring "held up great" and is "good to go for next week." Rex Ryan said Keller (one catch, 6 yards) had "about as good a day blocking as I've seen Dustin have." . . . Wide receiver Clyde Gates, who suffered a dislocated shoulder against Houston, said his arm feels "way better" and expects to practice Wednesday.
