Jamal Adams said he would try to recruit big-time players to join the Jets. The passionate safety already is trying to chase down arguably the best receiver in football.

Adams tweeted at Steelers wideout Antonio Brown, who is embroiled in controversy in Pittsburgh, to let him know he would be welcome in the Jets’ locker room.

“Yo @AB84 NYC will appreciate you,” Adams tweeted Wednesday, ending it with the hashtag #Jets.

Brown missed a practice and walk-through last week and was deactivated for the Steelers’ final game. It’s led to speculation that the Steelers may trade Brown.

After Adams took to Twitter, he said that he would love to play with Brown and that having a receiver like him would only help Sam Darnold, during his weekly spot on WFAN’s “Carlin, Maggie and Bart” show.

“That dude’s a star,” Adams said. “Certain people have their opinion about him. But one thing I do know from watching and witnessing it, AB is going to come to play. When he steps on the football field he’s all business and everything’s about football with him.

“I would definitely love to have him here. Him and Sam would have a great connection and that would give Sam another big-time weapon.”

Brown is not a free agent, so the Jets couldn’t just sign him. But they have $100 million in cap room and the No. 3 pick in the draft, so they will be very active and have the flexibility to vastly improve their roster.

That’s what Adams wants to see, and he promises to help out.

Following the season-ending loss in New England Sunday, Adams said the Jets need more talent and they have to “go get big-time players. You got to go get names.” He expressed that to Jets’ officials during Monday's exit meetings.

Jets CEO Christopher Johnson and general manager Mike Maccagnan both said they had long talks with Adams Monday. Adams said during his radio interview that the conversations went well, and that Maccagnan wants him to talk to players and try to bring them to the Jets.

Adams will be playing in his first Pro Bowl this year — Brown is on the team — so you can expect the Jets’ outspoken safety to do some selling.

“We had a great talk, Mr. Maccagnan and I,” Adams said. “I think we became a lot closer after our meeting. We’re on the same page. Mr. Johnson is going to do a phenomenal job as well. We had two great meetings and I’m excited.

“Mr. Maccagnan, he said he wants me to have some input,” Adams added. “Mr. Johnson as well. Because at the end of the day we’re all in this together. We got to pull on the rope the same way. It’s can’t be the football team pulling one way and then upstairs pulling another.  Everybody in that building has to be on the same page and we have to work together. As long as we do that we’ll be fine.”

Adams also addressed his comments, which some of his teammates didn’t appreciate.

“Certain people didn’t like what I said,” Adams said. “Honestly, I could have said it in a better way. I mean what I say when I say certain things. At the end of the day I just want to win. I’m not trying to bring any of my teammates down or talk bad about them. We’re missing some pieces that can really get us over the top. That’s all my comments were meant for.”

Former Jets linebacker Bart Scott, a host on the show, then started asking Adams about specific free agents and whether he wanted them on the team.

Adams said “definitely” to Falcons lineman Grady Jarrett and Texans outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney. After Scott mentioned Chiefs linebacker Dee Ford, Adams said, “If you’re going to name them all, bring them all.”
