FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - The Jets have reached out to the family of an 8-year-old Jets fan who allegedly was tackled and injured by a Browns fan after Sunday's game in Cleveland.

Team executive vice-president of business operations Matt Higgins made the offer to fly the boy and his family to a Jets game and host them in a suite with an all-access pass. The family declined, saying they didn't want more publicity, but said they could take the Jets up on their offer in the future.

The Jets were reacting to a story out of Cleveland. Danielle Brennan of Painesville, Ohio, said her 8-year-old son - who was wearing a Jets jersey after attending his first game on his birthday - was tackled by an apparently drunken fan in the parking lot after the Jets' 26-20 overtime victory.

The boy, whose first name has not been released, suffered a scraped and bruised ankle. The parents did not report the incident to police, but Danielle wrote a letter to the editor of the Cleveland Plain Dealer and later gave an interview to TV station WEWS.

"As [my husband] was walking, holding my son's hand, a guy from behind tackled him," Danielle said. "A drunken Browns fan tackled him and pulled him out of his dad's hand. He was on the ground crying."
