Jets’ NFL Draft picks in 2017

Here are the nine players that will make up the Jets' 2017 draft class.

First round, No. 6 overall: LSU safety Jamal Adams

Todd Bowles believes Adams is the type of “alpha dog” his locker room needs. The former LSU star is a natural leader on the field and off, plus he knows what it takes to be a champion. His father, George, was a running back on the Giants’ 1986 Super Bowl team. Adams’ versatility as an in-the-box strong safety or deep free safety, plus his physicality will immediately upgrade Bowles’ secondary, which has plenty of question marks in the back end.

Second round, No. 39 overall: Florida safety Marcus Maye,

The Jets clearly think there’s “safety” in numbers. Drafting Jamal Adams sixth overall didn’t stop them from grabbing Maye, a versatile defensive back who can play in the box and be a free safety. He also was a starter at safety and nickel in 2014.

Third round, No. 79 overall (via Minnesota Vikings): Alabama WR ArDarius Stewart

The Jets got another “alpha” for their locker room. The fiercely-competitive Stewart had 54 catches for 864 yards and eight touchdowns.

Fourth round, No. 141 overall (via Los Angeles Rams): Cal WR Chad Hansen

Fifth round, No. 150 overall: Clemson TE Jordan Leggett

Fifth round, No. 181 overall (via Cleveland Browns): West Georgia edge rusher Dylan Donahue

Sixth round, No. 188 overall (via Cleveland Browns): Louisiana-Lafayette RB Elijah McGuire

Sixth round, No. 197 overall (via Los Angeles Rams): Michigan CB Jeremy Clark

Sixth round, No. 204 overall (via Tampa Bay Buccaneers): Ole Miss CB Derrick Jones
