LaDainian Tomlinson may be called "L.T." nowadays, but didn't Jason Taylor tie the mark of a former Giants great who made those initials famous?

That's correct.

With his one sack against the Bills Sunday, Jason Taylor moved into a tie with Lawrence Taylor and Leslie O'Neal for eighth place on the NFL's all-time sack list with 132 1/2.

"When I came into the league, it wasn't a goal, but as I got closer to it, it means something to me," the 14-year veteran said. "[He's] a great player, an all-time great and probably the greatest to play . . . I'm not the same kind of player and he obviously did it in a different way. But it's cool."

Marquice Cole's 35-yard interception return for a touchdown in the second quarter seemed to spark the Jets. What did he see on that play?

"I knew it was going to be a quick throw because we were in a blitz, so I got my three-step read and he broke inside and then the ball was tipped, so both of us were sitting there waiting on it," Cole said. "I gave him a little nudge, went up and got it, and I knew once I got the ball, nobody was going to catch me."

What was that dance Cole was doing in the end zone?

"Once I caught it, I just thought of my homeboys back home and what type of dance I was going to do," he said. "So I went with 'Disco Fever' . Everybody did the 'Dougie' all year, so I had to be original. Old-school, that's what I do."

Was Mark Brunell excited to get extensive playing time?

"It's good to get out there in the regular season to get your feet wet a little bit, so if there's an opportunity to get in there in the postseason, being out there today only helps," said the 40-year-old backup quarterback, who completed 6 of 12 passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns.

"If I'm out there in the postseason, I'm hoping it's the four-minute drill when we are just trying to kill the clock and get a victory. But it was good for a lot of us that are in supporting roles and haven't had much time during the regular season to get out there."

What did the players say about Brunell's performance?

"That guy, he's been one to play with some great receivers since his time after he left Jacksonville and he's been talking about his opportunity, and he made the best of it today," said Santonio Holmes, who caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from Brunell in the second quarter to give the Jets a 17-0 lead. "He had fun out there playing around, getting hit and throwing touchdown passes. I think overall he's a great attribute to this team, and helping our offense and Mark Sanchez."

Did the players really care about getting that 11th win, which marked only the fourth time in franchise history they've collected at least that many victories in a season?

"It means a lot to me. I don't know about anybody else," center Nick Mangold said. "There's still an opportunity to get more, but I think it's a nice accomplishment. It's a nice thing to have and good thing to build on. I know I'm proud of it."

Any thoughts from John Conner, aka "The Terminator," on his first career touchdown?

"It brought me back to my college days a little bit, carrying the ball," said the rookie fullback, whose 16-yard run capped the scoring. "So I was happy I could help the team out. They told me to be prepared going into the game. With Shonn [Greene] and L.T. being out, me, T-Rich [Tony Richardson] and Joe [McKnight] had to take part of the load."

Who were the inactive players yesterday?

Darrelle Revis, Antonio Cromartie, Eric Smith, James Ihedigbo, Damien Woody, Greene and Tomlinson. Kellen Clemens was the designated third quarterback, and he had a 10-yard touchdown run.
