Room-inations

Mark Sanchez told a nice story the other day, mentioning how Santonio Holmes basically asked him to be his training camp roommate as if he were inviting a girl to be his date at a high school dance.

Holmes, however, remembers things a little bit differently. "That was funny that that happened," the wide receiver said Saturday. "When the guys came around the locker room and asked us who we wanted to be camp roommates with, I went through the list and everybody was pretty much taken up except for him. So I was like, 'Hey, this guy is open. I think I'm going to room with him.' "

But wait. Sanchez said you asked him.

"I did, I did," Holmes said. "After I saw the list, that he was the only one open. I went up to him and told him, 'Hey, we are going to be roommates whether you like it or not.' "

Told of Holmes' version of the way things supposedly went down, the second-year quarterback said: "Santonio said that? I'll withhold my comments for now and talk to you guys on Monday. If he doesn't show up to practice, don't be surprised."
