The Jets released quarterback Brady Quinn on Saturday before the 4 p.m. deadline that would have forced his $715,000 salary to be fully guaranteed, regardless of how long he remained on the roster.

The veteran quarterback -- who was signed Monday after backup Graham Harrell was cut -- likely will be re-signed in the coming days. Though it was expected, the move ensures that the Jets will have only two healthy quarterbacks for Sunday's season opener against the Buccaneers: Rookie Geno Smith, who will start, and Matt Simms, a first-year player. Neither has thrown an NFL pass in the regular season. Mark Sanchez has been ruled out because of a bruised right shoulder.

In a corresponding move, the Jets promoted linebacker Dan- ny Lansanah from the practice squad.

Law rips JetsTy Law -- a former Super Bowl champion cornerback with the Patriots and member of Darrelle Revis' inner circle -- blasted the Jets in an video interview, saying their receivers "aren't worthy'' of lining up against Revis. "He could've had the bad knee and covered these guys,'' said Law, a native of Aliquippa, Pa., like Revis, who played for the Jets in 2005 and 2008.

Law, who called the Jets the type of team that "might try to get him hurt,'' said he doesn't think Revis "respects anybody on Jets.'' During the three-minute clip, Law also disclosed that Revis was at his house during the former Jet's highly publicized holdout in 2010.
