The Jets took little time to make their new stadium truly feel like home.

During halftime of last night's preseason opener with the Giants at the New Meadowlands Stadium, the Jets unveiled their new Ring of Honor, which sits on the upper deck facing in each end zone. Joe Namath, Curtis Martin, Winston Hill, Weeb Ewbank, Don Maynard and Joe Klecko were the first to be enshrined.

"The Ring of Honor itself, I think, is a very nice honor for all the guys that are in it and that are going to go in it," Namath said. "I watch TV, I watch games, I see other stadiums and they have honored some of their past players and coaches. And now is the time, I gather - with the new stadium - is the right time that Mr. Johnson wants to do that."

Martin was also pleased to be a part of the first class of honorees, and if you ask him, this year's version of the Jets may end up having their own place in franchise history as well. He's buying into the Jets' Super Bowl talk.

"I'm going to Vegas to bet money, I'm putting my money on the Jets to get there before anyone else," Martin said.

The Jets are headed back to Cortland later Tuesday to finish off their two-plus week stay upstate. They're scheduled to practice twice Wednesday and two more times on Thursday before breaking camp and heading back to the metropolitan area to leave for Saturday's preseason game with the Panthers in Charlotte, N.C.

Next week the Jets are slated to have a pair of practices at their Florham Park, N.J., facility before heading to Long Island on Aug. 25 for a 6 p.m. practice at Hofstra.
