FLORHAM PARK, N.J. - Nick Mangold was present and accounted for Monday.

The Pro Bowl center, who, like cornerback Darrelle Revis, is seeking a contract extension, rated his chances of attending this week's mandatory three-day minicamp at "50-50" last week. But Mangold, in the final year of his rookie contract and scheduled to earn $3.3 million this season, opted to show up rather than get hit with the stiff fine of $9,442 per day for being absent.

Mangold didn't speak with reporters about his situation Monday, but Rex Ryan said he chatted with the All-Pro briefly. However, their conversation wasn't contract related.

"We talked about other things, but yeah it was great to see Nick," Ryan said. "And again, that's another situation where he's in the final year of a contract and clearly, he's another guy that we want to be a Jet for a long, long time."

Wilson impresses

Barely eight weeks into his pro career, Kyle Wilson continues to catch the coaching staff's eye. Ryan singled out the rookie cornerback when asked who's been leaving their lasting mark on him so far in the spring.

"Kyle Wilson is the one that clearly is the guy that really jumps out," Ryan said. "Obviously, we take him with the first pick, you expect him to do some things. But he's really been impressive. . . . I think this guy is going to be a tremendous player for us."

Extra points

Rookie OL Vladimir Ducasse worked at left guard with the first-string offense in the afternoon practice after Matt Slauson spent the morning session lining up with the starters. "We will have an open competition with those two," Ryan said. "Some days you'll see they just rotate whichever way Bill [Callahan] wants to go with it. But that one is going to be a great battle in training camp." . . . RB Shonn Greene, perhaps aware he'll need to be a complete dual threat out of the backfield now that he's the starter, spent a few minutes catching balls on the Jugs machine after the afternoon practice.
