FLORHAM PARK, N.J. — Victor Ochi officially is a Jet. Finally. The former Stony Brook edge rusher was signed to the Jets’ practice squad Monday after passing a physical.

“I knew I wasn’t done playing football,” Ochi told Newsday after the Jets’ walk-through practice.

Last week, the Jets mistakenly announced that the Valley Stream product had been added to the practice squad. But it turned out that he failed the physical he took last week, and a clerical error by the public relations department led to the confusion.

According to a source, the Jets were unaware that Ochi had suffered a shoulder injury before his release by the Ravens on Sept. 3. However, they were intent on signing him once his rehab was complete. The undrafted free agent had two sacks for the Ravens in preseason. Ochi set a Stony Brook record with 32 1⁄2 sacks.

Richardson returns

After his linemates feasted on Andy Dalton, Sheldon Richardson knows the pressure’s on. “It was good seeing those guys eat like that,” the defensive tackle said after serving his one-game suspension for violating the league’s personal code of conduct. “I’ve got my work cut out for me.”

The Jets had seven sacks in their 23-22 Week 1 loss, and the unit figures to be even more fearsome with Richardson back. Todd Bowles said he “can slide in and play” Thursday against Buffalo if there are no issues with conditioning.
