Pool: "It's up to the coaches"

Brodney Pool thinks he's healthy enough to play. But the decision on whether he gets any burn against the Ravens in two days is out of the safety's hands.
"It’s up to the coaches," Pool said after practice. "It’s going to come down to them."
Pool, who's listed as questionable for Monday's season opener, is nursing an ankle injury suffered two weeks ago in the Jets' preseason loss to the Redskins at the New Meadowlands Stadium. Someone fell on top of his ankle at the bottom of a pile while trying to recover a fumble, and he's been sidelined since, barely getting the opportunity to practice.
Pool spent the bulk of the last two weeks of practice riding the stationary bike, but hit the field yesterday in a limited capacity. He was limited again today, though he's getting healthier by the day.
"I feel better than I felt when I first did it," Pool said. "Like I said, it’s going to come down to the coaches, and they say we’ll see because I have a few extra days to let it rest."
"It’s not pain, it’s just kind of tight," he added. "Once it gets tight, it gets kind of hard to cut. So it’s just a matter of keeping it loose, and going out there and being comfortable to cut on it."
Some may already be ready to start the whispers about Pool being injured again. He had a history of concussion problems during his five seasons with Cleveland, and that was one of the reasons the Browns didn't tender him and let him leave via free agency.
"It's nowhere near the same trouble," Pool said. "This is an ankle, and a head and an ankle are two different things. It's part of the game. Stuff happens."
