Yeremiah Bell signs with Arizona Cardinals
The Arizona Cardinals announced Wednesday via Twitter that they have agreed to terms with former Jets safety Yeremiah Bell.
Coincidentally, Bell, 35, was signed to replace ex-Jet Kerry Rhodes who was released earlier in the day.
For the second straight season, the Jets' secondary will look completely different. The team signed Bell and fellow free agent LaRon Landry to one-year deals last offseason in an attempt to add athleticism and aggressiveness. The pair was seen as an instant upgrade over Eric Smith and Jim Leonhard (who played for the Broncos last season) -- but now the Jets must replace Bell and Landry.
Landry, who earned his first Pro Bowl nod this past season, visited with the Colts earlier today and is scheduled to meet next with the 49ers.
With last month's release of Smith, the only safeties on the Jets' roster are 2012 draft picks Josh Bush and Antonio Allen and Bret Lockett (UCLA) and Jaiquawn Jarrett (Temple), who were signed to reserve/futures contracts.
