Jim Harbaugh's OK with Colin Kaepernick's Miami Dolphins' cap

Alex Smith also left Sunday’s game with concussion-like symptoms but has passed concussion tests. In the event that he can’t start, Kaepernick is not a bad fantas -alternative. Coming off the bench last week, he went 11-for-17 for 117 yards and rushed for 66 yards and a touchdown. While the Bears have a formidable defense, Kaepernick’s athleticism gives him an edge. 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick created quite a stir last month when he was photographed wearing a Miami Dolphins cap. But Niners coach Jim Harbaugh, who once ripped a sportswriter in San Diego for wearing a 49ers' sweatshirt in the locker room, said he's not worried about any fallout from Kaepernick's interesting choice of attire.
"I know Kap and I know where his allegiances lie, and they lie with us," Harbaugh told reporters on Monday. "Chalk that up to a slow time in the media cycle. But I know Kap very well and know exactly where his allegiances are.”
So, no issues with him wearing the hat?
"I know exactly where his allegiances are," Harbaugh said. "I know him. I know him. I know how he prepares. I know where his allegiances lie.”
Harbaugh wasn't quite as understanding when he was a Chargers backup and San Diego Union-Tribune sportswriter Jim Trotter showed up wearing a 49ers' sweatshirt. In fact, Harbaugh refused to answer Trotter's questions and berated him for wearing it to practice.
Harbaugh said he has been very impressed with Kaepernick's work in the off-season. It's the first time Kaepernick has gone into the season as the starter. In fact, last year, Kaepernick wasn't even sure he'd be the primary backup for Alex Smith heading into training camp. As it turned out, Kaepernick wound up replacing an injured Smith and led the 49ers to the Super Bowl, where they lost to the Ravens. Smith was subseqeuently traded to the Chiefs in the off-season.
"He's had an outstanding offseason," Harbaugh said. "His work ethic and what he does here and his preparation, it’s top notch. And this offseason has been outstanding in that regard."
