Jerry Jones says he will decide soon on the next coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

On his radio show Tuesday, Jones said: “I think we will have a lot of this done by the afternoon here today.” He added that “we probably won’t be ready to talk about this until tomorrow some time.”

Jones was expected to be headed to New Orleans on Tuesday to watch his alma mater, Arkansas, play in the Sugar Bowl.

Interim coach Jason Garrett is the front-runner to be hired. He went 5-3 over the second half of the season with a club that had gone 1-7.

However, Jones also had to interview a minority candidate to meet league rules. He was expected to speak Tuesday with receivers coach Ray Sherman, who is black.
