League source: Jets won't pursue Haynesworth

The Jets suffered a devastating blow when they learned yesterday that veteran nose tackle Kris Jenkins would be lost for the season after he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. It was the same injury that ended his 2009 season.

There has been speculation the Jets might pursue a trade for Redskins disgruntled defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth, who has been at odds with head coach Mike Shanahan. But a league source familiar with the Jets situation tells me the team will not be dealing for Haynesworth. There is no interest on the Jets' part, the source said.

Haynesworth has complained about having to play nose tackle in the Redskins' 3-4 alignment. The Jets run a similar version of the 3-4.

Meanwhile, the Jets are expected to re-sign receiver David Clowney. They announced a few minutes ago that backup running back Danny Woodhead has been released.
