Lions DT Fairley sent to foot specialist
The Detroit Lions have sent rookie defensive tackle Nick Fairley to a specialist for evaluation of his injured left foot.
He's scheduled to see the specialist in Charlotte, N.C., on Wednesday.
The Lombardi Trophy winner for national champion Auburn left practice Monday. Fairley was on the field in a walking cast the following day after X-rays revealed no significant injury.
Coach Jim Schwartz said he expected to know more about Fairley's condition later Wednesday. The team selected him 13th in the draft to complement a line that features tackles Ndamukong Suh and Kyle Vanden Bosch.
