Jets coach Rex Ryan indicated last week that he thought Mark Sanchez (pictured) might have an outside shot at participating in the team's June 14-16 mini-camp, and Sanchez seconded that assessment earlier today during a press briefing for the Jets/Giants bid for the 2014 Super Bowl.
"I feel good," Sanchez said. "I'm hoping I can do some stuff then. Either way, I'll definitely be ready for training camp."
Sanchez has been rehabbing from off-season knee surgery, and last week began running on a treadmill. Sanchez has also begun light jogging on the field, and he plans to increase his workload.
"I just jogged yesterday at the [team's training] facility," Sanchez said.
He admitted he has done some light throwing, although he seemed to indicate the team's training staff might not know that.
"They're doing a great job," he said of the medical/training staff. "They'll have me ready."
Sanchez also said he'd love to see the Jets and Giants play in the 2014 Super Bowl.
"Jets-Giants in 2014. That would be pretty nice," he said. "Hopefully next year, too."
