McNabb asks for, gets release
A week after Kyle Orton was granted his request to be released from the Broncos, Donovan McNabb has done the same with the Vikings.
The former Eagles star, who was traded to Minnesota before the season after being benched by the Redskins in 2010, is now subject to waiver claims until 4 p.m. Any team can claim McNabb, but he will be awarded to the team that has the worst record of any club putting in a claim.
McNabb had recently been relegated to third string during practice after losing his starting job last month to rookie Christian Ponder.
