Brady became the first quarterback ever to win five Super Bowls as he rallied the Patriots from a 25-point deficit to beat the Falcons, 34-28, in the Super Bowl's first overtime game. Brady threw for 466 yards and two touchdowns and was named the MVP. He then became the first to win six Super Bowls a few years later, captaining a win over the Los Angeles Rams. Brady won the Super Bowl in his first season over the St. Louis Rams and also won the MVP of the game. He led the New England Patriots down the field setting up the game-winning field goal. He won back-to-back Super Bowls in 2004-05 beating the Panthers and Eagles. In Super Bowl XLIX, Brady again was named MVP as he went 37-for-50 for 328 yards and four touchdowns. He threw two fourth-quarter TDs as the Patriots erased a 10-point deficit. In his first season outside New England, Brady joined the Buccaneers in 2020 and didn't take long to bring his championship ways to Tampa Bay. Tom Brady is coming off an MVP season, but that still isn't keeping the Patriots from considering the 34-year-old quarterback's heir apparent.
Last week, the team had Washington quarterback Jake Locker in for a visit. And this week, it's Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett, who is visiting today and tomorrow, according to ESPN.com's James Walker.
The Patriots signed Brady to a contract extension through the 2014 season, and he'll be 37 at the end of the deal. Brady has said he'd like to play until he's at least 40, but the Patriots are apparently taking no chances by taking a closer look at this year's quarterbacks.
It's also possible the Patriots are looking at the quarterbacks as part of a continingency plan in the event they make a trade. The Patriots have three of the first 33 picks and have already received numerous inquiries on teams looking to trade.
