Ngata fined $15k for Sanchez hit
Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata has been fined $15,000 for a second-quarter hit on Mark Sanchez during Sunday night's Ravens-Jets game. The news was first reported by Profootballtalk.com.
Ngata hit Sanchez in the back with his helmet and pried the ball loose. The fumble was recovered by linebacker Jarret Johnson, who ran it back for a touchdown to give Baltimore a 27-7 lead. Hitting a quarterback helmet-first is in violation of NFL rules, although referee Mike Carey did not penalize Ngata on the play.
