Otah released by Panthers
Two days after the Jets sent offensive tackle Jeff Otah back to the Panthers after he failed to pass a physical, the Panthers released the former first-round pick.
Per the Charlotte Observer, the Panthers filled Otah’s roster spot by signing free agent cornerback Nate Ness.
The Jets, who traded a conditional seventh-round pick for Otah, had hoped he would compete with Wayne Hunter at right tackle. But the frequently injured lineman couldn’t pass the team’s physical. Otah has missed 31 of the last 35 games because of left knee problems.
Otah, 26, was scheduled to make $1.1 million this season.
