Owners look to implement 18-game season in 2012
NFL owners have shown widespread support for going to an 18-game schedule but want to implement the change as part of a new labor agreement. Commissioner Roger Goodell says owners see two more regular-season games - and two fewer preseason games - as the most logical way to enhance revenues in a difficult economic environment. He said it will be one of the main issues in talks on reaching a new collective bargaining agreement. Goodell said the league is targeting 2012 for the 18-game season.
Vikes swap for Camarillo
The Minnesota Vikings aren't waiting around to beef up their ailing receivers corps. The Vikings acquired receiver Greg Camarillo Wednesday from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for cornerback Benny Sapp. Camarillo rebounded from a torn ACL in 2008 to catch 105 passes for 1,165 yards and two touchdowns in the last two years.
Walking miles for Lions
Joe Paquette Jr. said he walked some 400 miles from his home in Michigan's Upper Peninsula to the Motor City because he's a die-hard fan of the Detroit Lions. Paquette, 63, arrived at team headquarters Wednesday and was greeted by coach Jim Schwartz, quarterback Matthew Stafford and other players. Paquette said he started his trek from Munising on Aug. 8.
Ochocinco Tweet II
Chad Ochocinco has apologized again for his tweets.
He apologized to commissioner Roger Goodell on his Twitter account. "Dad again I apologize 2 you for my tweet, as my father I understand you've to discipline, can we try timeout next time please :)" he tweeted before practice.
