There was an abrupt resignation in Seattle yesterday, as veteran offensive line coach Alex Gibbs left the team only a week before the start of the regular season.

First-year head coach Pete Carroll went with a familiar name to replace Gibbs, naming Pat Ruel, his former offensive line coach at USC.The news was first reported by ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

Ruel is a highly respected position coach, although he'll be challenged in his new digs by having to get up to speed quickly with the regular season approaching.

Oh, and by the way, his given name: Golden Pat Ruel.

Give that man a spot on the All-Name Team.

Amazing name trivia factoid: He is not the first man named "Golden" on the Seahawks! Their ace rookie wide receiver is named Golden Tate.
