The Raiders used a third-round pick Monday in the NFL's supplemental draft to select former Ohio State quarterback Terrelle Pryor. Oakland forfeits its third-round selection in next April's draft.

Pryor will be able to practice immediately after signing and could play in the remaining two exhibition games. But during the regular season he will not be eligible to practice or play for the Raiders until their sixth game.

When Pryor was allowed Thursday to enter the draft, commissioner Roger Goodell handed him a five-game suspension -- the same number of games he would have sat out had he returned to Ohio State. Pryor gave up his final college season after an investigation into the team's memorabilia-for-cash scandal that cost coach Jim Tressel his job.

Raiders starter Jason Campbell is in the last year of his contract, as are backups Kyle Boller and Trent Edwards.

Haynesworth pleads no contest

Patriots defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth pleaded no contest to a charge of simple assault to resolve a case in which he was accused of touching a waitress' breast at a Washington hotel.

If he stays out of trouble for 18 months and completes 160 hours of community service, prosecutors have agreed to drop the charge. Haynesworth appeared in D.C. Superior Court to enter his plea.

Colts not expecting Favre

A day after Colts owner Jim Irsay wrote on Twitter that he was in Hattiesburg, Miss., the city Brett Favre calls home, Jim Caldwell and his players tried to dismiss speculation Favre would become Peyton Manning's backup.

"I think they're hilarious," defensive captain Gary Brackett said of Irsay's posts. "But I wouldn't call anything on Twitter gospel."

Manning, a four-time MVP, has been on the physically unable to perform list since training camp opened as he recovers from May neck surgery, the second operation on his neck in 15 months. On Saturday, Manning said he would not play in the final two preseason games.

Orton will start for Broncos

Broncos coach John Fox named Kyle Orton his starting quarterback, and Fox said Tim Tebow and Brady Quinn have two more preseason games to win the job as primary backup.-- AP
