2011: ROBERT GRIFFIN III Quarterback, Baylor Throughout the season, it...

Quarterback, Baylor
Throughout the season, it looked like Stanford QB Andrew Luck had a lock on the award. RGIII stayed in the hunt all year, though, putting up big numbers in the air and on the ground, capped by a signature 45-38 victory over Oklahoma where Griffin threw for 479 yards and four TDs. He finished with 3,998 yards passing, 36 passing TDs, 644 yards rushing and 9 rushing TDs. Credit: AP

The Washington Redskins are about to get their quarterback of the future now that they've swung a deal to move up to the second overall pick.

Washington pulled off a blockbuster trade to get the Rams' selection, which they'll almost certainly use on Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Robert Griffin III of Baylor. Either that or Andrew Luck, depending on which quarterback the Colts select with the No. 1 pick.

Washington got in position to make the pick by surrendering a boatload of picks to the Rams. The Redskins will trade away this year's first-round pick (sixth overall) as well as first-rounders in 2013 AND 2014, as well as a second-round pick this year. The deal was first reported by Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com.

The Redskins were believed to be very interested in Peyton Manning, but once it became clear that Manning wasn't very interested in them - mostly because baby brother Eli plays in the same division with the Giants - Washington got moving on the trade.

There's no way they'd have been in a position to draft either Griffin or Luck at No. 6, and they had to make the move up to No. 2 to get there.
