Report: Bears' Gaines Adams dead at 26
Gaines Adams, a 26-year-old defensive end with the Chicago Bears, died Sunday morning, according to a report in The Greenville (S.C.) News.
Adams, a star at Clemson University, was reportedly taken to the emergency room at Self Regional Hospital in Greenwood, S.C., county coroner James T. Coursey told the The Greenville News.
Adams was chosen No. 4 overall in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was traded to Chicago last October.
An autopsy is expected to be performed Sunday, the newspaper reported.
In 47 games over three seasons, Adams had 67 tackles and 13.5 sacks.
