Less than two days after playing a starring role in the Jets' 28-14 win over the Patriots, wide receiver Braylon Edwards has been arrested on drunken driving charges, according to police.

Edwards was arrested at 5:15 a.m. today and charged with driving while intoxicated after police pulled over his Land Rover at 34th St. and 12th Ave. for having overly-tinted windows. Police reported smelling alcohol, and Edwards blew a .16 in a Breathalyer. That is double the legal limit of .08 in New York.

According to a police spokesman, Edwards is in central booking in Manhattan awaiting arraignment.

Jets general manager Mike Tannenbaum is aware of the situation.

"We are reviewing the information with the league and will impose the appropriate disciplinary measures." The NFL had no immediate comment.

It is unknown if Edwards will miss Sunday night's game against the Dolphins in South Florida. Under terms of the NFL's substance abuse policy, players are subject to sanctions if they're arrested for driving while intoxicated.

Edwards sent a post on his Twitter account that appears to have been sent shortly after the arrest. "GoodMorning World...Winning is the goal, perfection is the aspiration, & dedication is the key to unlock the door #LetsWork"

Edwards was arrested in Cleveland last October on misdemeanor charges for punching a friend of former Cavaliers star LeBron James outside a nightclub. He pleaded no contest in January, and escaped any punishment from the NFL.

Edwards signed a one-year contract to remain with the Jets through 2010.
