As the Jets prepare for Monday night's game, they might have to game-plan for a new wrinkle in Minnesota's offense. There's a chance that Randy Moss will be in uniform for the Vikings.

Reports surfaced last night that the Patriots and Vikings are considering a trade of the 33-year-old receiver. Neither team confirmed the reports, but Jay Glazer of Fox Sports reported last night that a deal is close.

A Patriots source said last night there was "no trade to report," but offered no more details.

Vikings quarterback Brett Favre lobbied for the Packers to trade for Moss when Favre was in Green Bay. If the Vikings can pull off the trade, which is contingent on Moss' signing a contract extension, it would return Moss to the team he played for from 1998-2004. Moss, the Vikings' first-round pick in 1998, was traded to the Raiders in 2005. He played two seasons in Oakland before being dealt to the Patriots in 2007.

Moss expressed frustration during training camp that the Patriots had not extended his contract, but he later said he wanted to finish his career in New England.

Moss has only nine catches for 139 yards and three touchdowns this season. He did not have a catch in Monday night's 41-14 win over the Dolphins in Miami. In a 28-14 loss to the Jets in Week 2, Moss caught a 34-yard TD from Brady by beating cornerback Darrelle Revis. The Jets' star suffered a hamstring injury on the play and hasn't played since.

Revis is expected to play Monday. Now the question is whether he'll be covering Moss again so soon.
