Report: Suggs tears Achilles
A huge blow for the Ravens: All Pro linebacker Terrell Suggs, the 2011 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, has torn his Achilles and could be lost for the season.
The news was first reported by ESPN's Adam Schefter and later confirmed by Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome.
The Ravens said in a statement released by the team that Suggs would visit with a specialist next week, and that they will then determine a course of action. Surgery for an Achilles repair usually involved an extensive rehabilitation that can take up to a year.
Suggs has missed only three games in his nine-year career.
