Revis: Moss "put his foot on the brakes" against the Jets

Darrelle Revis once called former Patriots receiver Randy Moss "a slouch" after a game last season in which the Jets' cornerback shut down Moss. Revis wouldn't use that word to describe Moss' effort in the Jets' 28-14 win over the Patriots in Week 2, but he did hint that Moss gave up in the second half.

Moss had just two catches for 38 yards and a touchdown, but had zero catches in the first half. His 34-yard touchdown came on a post route near the end of the first half, as he beat Revis to the endzone.

But Revis, who will face Moss in his Vikings' debut on Monday night if the cornerback's hamstring holds up, suggested today that Moss "put his foot on the brakes" in the second half.

"He came out full force," Revis said. "Earlier in the game, they tried to hit a deep one against him, and he got pushed out of bounds by Jim [Leonhard]. They tried to feed him the ball a little bit. On the touchdown, he got me. The second half, I watched in the locker room. You could tell he was putting his foot on the brakes. Everyone knows that’s Randy. Sometimes he comes out and plays 100 percent and sometimes he doesn’t." 

I asked how it showed, and Revis said: "You guys can tell. You can see the effort. Playing football, you can see the body language and effort of people when they’re out there playing. If a guy’s going hard, or if a guy is hesitating, that’s just the way football is. The truth comes out. You could see it that game a little bit. I don’t know if it was frustration of him not getting the ball a lot or whatever. But you could see it on him."
