The Patriots took yet another step toward solidying their grip on the AFC East by signing former Jets return man Leon Washington, who had been released by the Seahawks.

Washington, 30, was with the Jets from 2006-09 and the Seahawks from 2010-12. The 5-8, 203-pound Washington was the Jets' fourth-round pick in 2006 and was traded to the Seahawks in 2010 for a fifth-round pick.

Washington shares the NFL record with Josh Cribbs with eigth career kickoff returns for touchdowns. He also tied an NFL record when he returned two kicks for a touchdown in a 2010 game against the Chargers.
