Miami Dolphins coach Joe Philbin acknowledged Saturday that embattled lineman Richie Incognito was investigated by the team in conjunction with an incident involving a female volunteer at a Dolphins charity golf tournament in May 2012.

"We were made aware of the incident and we took immediate action," Philbin said. "That's all I'm going to say . . . Any club action we would take against any player would be kept private."

No charges were filed against Incognito after the incident in Aventura, Fla., espn.com reported, but a police report said the volunteer complained that Incognito "used his golf club to touch her by rubbing it up against her . . . then up her stomach then to her chest. He then used the club to knock a pair of sunglasses off the top of her head.''
